Hotel Rates for World Cup 2026 in the USA, Mexico & Canada

September 18, 2025

A survey by Cheaphotels.org has analysed hotel rates for the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will take place in 16 cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada.

The study looked at the cost of the most affordable available hotel (minimum 3-star), located in or near downtown, for each match during the tournament.

The priciest city is by some distance Vancouver, which hosts the four most expensive World Cup games in terms of accommodation. Rates are highest for the group stage match on June 13, when travellers will have to pay $879 for the cheapest available double room – an increase of 258% compared to regular rates.

By contrast, Toronto remains relatively affordable, with rates up by only 20–30% for five of the six matches played in Canada’s largest city. The exception is June 12, when the cheapest room costs around $350 – an increase of more than 70%.

In the United States, the most expensive match is on June 26 in Houston, where the lowest available room costs $709. That represents a 544% increase compared to normal rates – the steepest price hike of the entire tournament.

Houston also hosts another four matches among the Top 20 priciest games (see table below). Significant price surges are also recorded for five matches in Dallas, the quarter-final on July 11 in Kansas City, and a group stage match in Seattle.

Hotel rates in other U.S. host cities are more reasonable, largely due to the greater availability of accommodation. For example, even for the final in New York City, rooms can still be found from $345 per night, only about 50% above normal prices.

In Mexico, the most expensive destination is Monterrey, which will host four World Cup matches. In this northeastern city, rates start from $150 per night – around double the usual cost. Meanwhile, Mexico City and Guadalajara remain much cheaper, with rooms available from roughly $60 per night, representing only a minor increase compared to their regular rates.

Please note: Hotel prices are expected to fluctuate significantly after the group-stage draw on December 5. Matches involving major teams such as England, Brazil, or Argentina are likely to attract large numbers of traveling fans, driving accommodation costs sharply higher in their host cities.
