316 HOTEL, Wichita

The hotel sits in a high-traffic medical corridor near major hospitals, making it a practical base for hospital visits or medical stays. The immediate area has a significant homeless population and is considered less safe for walking after dark; the hotel's free shuttle provides secure transport to downtown, the arena, and key medical facilities. Several fast-food and sandwich shops-including Spangles and Subway-are within a 0.5 km walk during daytime, but travelling by car or shuttle is recommended after sunset. Interstate access for broader Wichita exploration is straightforward.

The property's rooms are a mix of updated modern decor and older furnishings that show wear. Beds are generally comfortable with fluffy pillows, though some mattresses are firm and may feel hard for lighter sleepers. Private bathrooms include free toiletries; some bathrooms are small and may have dated fixtures, peeling paint, or mold on shower curtains. Standard in-room amenities include a microwave, refrigerator, and coffee maker (pods not always supplied). Rooms are generally quiet, but road-facing units can pick up train noise and street activity. Allergy-free rooms and wheelchair-accessible units are available; luggage storage is free for early arrivals or late departures.

The breakfast is a highlight for many, featuring a cook-to-order omelette bar with a variety of fillings, accompanied by a self-serve buffet of waffles, fresh fruit, cereals, and yogurt. Coffee is regular drip style. Breakfast service can be busy at peak times; arriving early is recommended for the widest selection. The free evening reception offers beer and wine in a relaxed lobby area, often with snacks, and is a practical way to wind down after a day at the hospital or exploring the city. No other on-site dining is provided, but several restaurants-including Saigon Restaurant and LA Chinita Mexican Restaurant-are within a 0.5 km walk.

The hotel does not have a pool, spa, gym, or other recreational facilities. The primary leisure offering is the complimentary evening happy hour, which provides a social space for guests to relax with a drink. For golf enthusiasts, a course is within 3 km. The property also has a shared lounge/TV area for unwinding.

The hotel is fully non-smoking with a designated smoking area. Accessibility is well-covered: wheelchair-accessible rooms, toilets with grab rails, an emergency cord in the bathroom, and visual aids (Braille) are available. The 24-hour front desk offers currency exchange, private check-in/out, and fax/photocopying. Safety is addressed with CCTV, key card access, smoke alarms, and a security alarm. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are on-site. The free shuttle is a key service, providing safe transport to downtown Wichita, hospitals, and Intrust Bank Arena.
