HOSTEL TRASTEVERE 2, Rome

The hostel sits in the lively Trastevere district, known for its authentic restaurants, bars, and local atmosphere. Trastevere station is within a 10-minute walk, providing direct train access to other parts of the city and Fiumicino Airport. Tram and bus stops are also nearby, making it easy to reach the historic centre. The immediate area is packed with dining and café options-with at least eight restaurants and bars within 0.5 km, including casual burger spots, contemporary Italian, and pastry shops. The neighbourhood is walkable and well-served by public transport, though driving is not recommended due to a complete lack of on-site parking.

The accommodation offers private and dormitory-style rooms, each with a private bathroom. Rooms are spacious and clean, equipped with free air conditioning and heating. Soundproofing is installed, and windows help maintain a quiet environment-the property is generally calm. Some rooms include a balcony. Dorm beds are comfortable, but note that beds are not assigned or numbered, meaning you may need to choose a new spot each day. If room cleanliness is a priority, daily housekeeping is provided. Some reviews noted occasional cleanliness issues, so it is wise to check the room on arrival. No soap or shampoo is provided in the bathroom.

The hostel runs a free social dinner every night-you just need to buy a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). The dinner is prepared by staff or volunteers and is a great way to meet fellow travellers. There is also an on-site bar and a snack bar with a vending machine for drinks and snacks. A large shared kitchen is available for self-catering, equipped with everything needed to cook your own meals. Breakfast is not generally provided, but the surrounding area has many cafés and pastry shops within a short walk for morning coffee and pastries.

The hostel provides several free leisure options: a fitness centre, table tennis, darts, a games room with board games, and a lounge/TV area. Free walking tours are organised regularly, helping you discover Rome on foot with a local guide. There is also a terrace with hammocks, accessible late into the night. For a small additional charge, themed dinner nights and pub crawls are available. Live sport events are broadcast free of charge in common areas. The property has a garden and a shared lounge with plenty of space to relax.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building. The 24-hour front desk operates with a concierge service and offers express check-in/check-out. Luggage storage is available for an additional charge, useful if you arrive before check-in or have a late departure. Lockers are provided in common areas. Daily housekeeping is included and free of charge. An airport shuttle can be arranged for an additional fee (both pick-up and drop-off). Business facilities include meeting/banquet rooms and fax/photocopying for a charge. The property is fully non-smoking. A shared kitchen is available. The hostel uses key access and has CCTV in common areas and outside, plus a security alarm and smoke alarms for safety.
