AGRITURISMO LE MACINE, Florence

The property sits in a rural area among olive groves and orchards, offering a peaceful retreat while remaining well-connected. Bus 23 stops at Marco Polo, 300 metres away, and runs straight to Santa Maria Novella Train Station - journey time to the centre is about 20-25 minutes. Driving takes 10-15 minutes, and free onsite parking is secure even for larger vehicles. Bike rental is available via the city's bike-share system, with dedicated cycle paths into the centre. The Teatro Cartiere Carrara is a 10-15 minute walk away.

Accommodation is split between standard rooms and apartments. Rooms have a cosy, rustic feel with a seating area and private bathroom. Apartments add a kitchenette and a separate living area, making them suitable for longer stays or light self-catering. Some rooms are furnished with 19th-century pieces, and the apartment described includes a private entrance. The bathroom in the apartment is noted as very compact, and some rooms are at ground or lower-ground level, which can be darker and may retain a musty, old-building smell. Heating and air conditioning are provided; the air conditioning is reported to function well. There is no balcony. Noise transfer from the upstairs room can be noticeable. The garden is described by some as unkempt and overgrown with vegetation that can attract mosquitoes near certain units.

The breakfast is a key part of the experience: it includes fresh fruit, cold cuts, homemade cakes, marmalades, and local items such as olive oil and bruschetta. It is served at a single table in the family kitchen or, in summer, on their terrace. The selection is self-prepared and generally well received for its freshness and authenticity, though it is described as simple and can lack variety (e.g. limited cheese, same pastries repeated). Coffee and tea are available. There is no restaurant on site, so other meals need to be planned outside the property. A kitchenette in the apartment allows for basic cooking.

The only leisure facility is the garden with outdoor furniture, which some find neglected. For relaxation, guests can enjoy the quiet countryside setting and walk among the olive groves and surrounding rural paths. There is no pool, gym, sauna, or spa.

Parking is free and on-site, with no reservation needed; the area is enclosed and lit, suitable for larger vehicles. Pets are allowed on request (charges may apply). Free Wi-Fi is available in the rooms only, not in all areas. Services include daily housekeeping (free), luggage storage, private check-in/-out, fax/photocopying, and an invoice provided. Fire extinguishers and key access are present for safety. The owners are described as very friendly and knowledgeable, often offering local sightseeing advice. There is no lift, and some rooms are accessed via steep metal stairs.
