ITM HOTEL DEUTSCHES HAUS, Hamburg

The hotel sits in a quiet, park-like residential area, around 25 minutes by car from the city centre and a few minutes from the A7 motorway - ideal for transit stays. The S-Bahn station (S3 line) is about a 10-minute walk and provides a 25-minute connection to central Hamburg. A bus stop is directly outside. Supermarkets, restaurants, and a gas station are within a short walk. The location is convenient for motorists but less central for visiting the city without a car.

Rooms are simply furnished and vary in size from compact singles to larger family rooms. Double beds are often two single beds pushed together, and some rooms have a French bed (120-140 cm). Noise can be an issue: rooms above the bar may hear late-night noise, and the building is not well soundproofed - voices from next door can be heard. Some rooms have blackout roller blinds, while others have only thin curtains. Heating is available, but there is no air conditioning, making summer stays uncomfortable on hot days. Some rooms have been recently renovated and are clean and modern; others are dated. Room cleaning is irregular - some reports note cleaning occurring in the evening and sheets not being changed reliably during multi-night stays. Private bathrooms are generally clean but some are very small.

Breakfast is a self-service continental buffet with bread, cold cuts, cheese, eggs, and hot drinks. It is described as simple but adequate for a budget stay. The breakfast room has large windows for a pleasant atmosphere. The hotel previously had a restaurant, but it is now permanently closed. A vending machine with drinks is available. For full meals, several restaurants and takeaway options are within a 10-minute walk.

Free public parking is available directly on site with ample space. The hotel has a 24-hour reception desk, though the night staff can be hard to reach. Luggage storage is available. Housekeeping is provided but may occur at inconsistent times, such as the evening. The Wi-Fi is free and generally reliable. There is no ironing facility. The hotel is accessible via stairs only - no lift. Safety features include fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, security alarms, and key-card access.
