BAMBOO ECO HOSTEL, Turin

Located in the Barriera di Milano neighbourhood, the hostel is well connected by bus and tram lines with stops right outside the door. Porta Nuova station is about 20 minutes away by tram number 4. The city centre and major landmarks are within a 15-minute walk. The area has a high immigrant population and some street activity; solo travellers, particularly women, may prefer to return before dark. Street parking is free but can be scarce, and the neighbourhood is not recommended for late-night car use. Several restaurants and pizzerias are within a 300-metre walk, along with a supermarket. The area is also served by a bus route to the airport (train to Grosseto, then bus 77, about 45 minutes total).

The accommodation consists of dormitory and private rooms, each with a private bathroom - a significant advantage for a hostel. Rooms are clean, well-organised, and feature original, colourful decor and modern furnishings. Each bed includes a personal locker, and linens and towels are provided. The suite layout offers a double bedroom with a separate living area containing a kitchen and a double sofa bed. Some rooms have a small balcony or terrace. Rooms are not air-conditioned; fans are available for the summer. Internal noise insulation is limited, and street-facing rooms can be disturbed by traffic and night-time neighbourhood activity. The ground-floor room has darker bedding and may feel less clean in appearance. Rooms with private bathrooms are spacious and well-equipped with a hairdryer and complimentary toiletries.

The hostel does not offer breakfast or operate a restaurant or bar. Instead, it provides a well-stocked communal kitchen with cookware, utensils, a dining table, and a sink - ideal for cooking meals. Free coffee and tea are available throughout the day. For those who prefer eating out, the neighbourhood offers several pizzerias, trattorias, and takeaway options within a 300-500-metre walk, including PIZZALAB Torino and La Barriera Trattoria. A supermarket is also nearby for groceries.

Leisure facilities are limited to the common areas: a cosy living room with stylish decor and a reading/working room. There is no on-site gym, pool, or spa. The focus is on social interaction and self-catering in the communal spaces. The area itself offers cultural initiatives and festivals in the evolving Barriera district.
