BEST WESTERN PLUS HYDE PARK CHICAGO HOTEL, Chicago

The hotel sits right on Lake Shore Drive (Lake Shore Drive), offering direct car access to downtown attractions, the Loop, and major expressways. The Museum of Science and Industry is less than 2 km south, and the University of Chicago and Hyde Park dining and shopping are within a short drive. Public transit options include a bus stop nearby and the Metra Electric line a bit further on foot. The lakefront trail is just 100 metres away for running, walking, or cycling along Lake Michigan. While the immediate area is residential and walkable to a few restaurants and shops, some have noted that it is less safe for night-time walks, so using the free shuttle or a car is recommended for evening trips.

Available room types include standard rooms with one or two queen beds, as well as two-room suites with a separate living area and sofa bed. Each room is equipped with individual air conditioning, ironing facilities, a sitting area, cable/satellite TV, a direct-dial telephone, a hair dryer, an AM/FM alarm clock, and free local calls. Some rooms also include a microwave and a refrigerator. Carpeted floors are standard. While many rooms are spacious and have been recently updated, some units may have dated or worn furniture, torn upholstery, or stained carpeting. Light sleepers should request a room on a higher floor away from the elevator, as soundproofing between rooms and floors is minimal. Bathrooms can be small and may have low water pressure or ventilation issues.

The fitness centre is located on the second floor and includes a treadmill, elliptical machine, stationary bike, cable machine, pull-up bar, and dumbbells up to 23 kg. No towels are provided in the workout area. A seasonal outdoor pool is available, but some have noted it has been empty at times and its use is shared with the hotel next door. The lakefront trail is steps away for outdoor running and cycling. The immediate surroundings also offer easy access to a park and the shores of Lake Michigan.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the property, though connectivity from guest rooms can be unreliable, with some reporting the need to reconnect frequently or move near the lobby for a stable signal. The covered parking garage offers free parking, but spaces are tight and fill up quickly; overflow parking is available in an adjacent lot shared with another hotel and restaurant. The free shuttle runs on a set schedule to downtown and museum areas-boarding is first-come, first-served. A business centre with a computer and printer is available. The front desk is staffed 24 hours and can assist with luggage storage or arrange early check-in subject to availability. Only dogs are permitted; a no-smoking policy is in effect throughout. Cots are available on request. The hotel offers wheelchair access and some rooms are accessible. A small lobby area also sells snacks and drinks.
