PRINCIPE HABITACIONES, Madrid

The property sits on a 4th floor in a historic building right in the city centre, putting most major landmarks within a comfortable walking distance. The Prado Museum is less than 1 km away, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum 600 metres, and the Reina Sofia Museum a 12-minute walk. The Gran Via Metro station is just 9 minutes on foot, providing direct connections across the city and to Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport, which is 13 km away. Mercado San Miguel, Gran Via, and Puerta de Atocha are all within 8-13 minutes. The immediate area is lively with dozens of bars, tapas spots, and restaurants such as Lateral Santa Ana and Cerveceria Alemana just 300 metres away. Although the location is excellent for walkers, be aware that the building entrance and stairwell are not wheelchair accessible.

Rooms are basic and compact, with a bed, bedding, a small window (some face interior shafts or construction sites), and as little as one power plug. There is no wardrobe, chair, or television-only a small table or shelf in some cases. The windows often lack blackout curtains, so morning light enters early, and street noise from nearby bars and neighbours is clearly audible, often until 1-2 am. The shared bathroom has two sinks and a separate toilet, but is used by up to 8 people from 4 rooms, creating morning queues. Some rooms have a ceiling fan, but there is no air conditioning, and summer heat can become uncomfortable. The building is old and stairs may feel steep with heavy luggage. Despite the basic conditions, the rooms are generally cleaned before arrival, and the beds are comfortable enough for a short, city-focused stay.

WiFi is included and free in all areas. The shared bathroom and kitchen are cleaned daily, and the host provides clean sheets and towels on request (but does not replace them automatically during a stay). Reception is available 24 hours but check-in must be coordinated by phone; there is no physical desk on site. There is no parking available at the property, and pets are not allowed. The building has no lift, and guests staying on floors 3 or 4 must climb up to 80 steep steps. An invoice is provided upon request for paid services. There is no luggage storage, so departure plans should be arranged accordingly.
