QUALITY INN, Santa Barbara

The motel sits on State Street near Las Positas, a residential area roughly 4 km from Paseo Nuevo and a 10-minute drive to the beach and pier. Highway 101 is easily reached via nearby on-ramps, making this a practical stop for Pacific Coast Highway road trips. A Trader Joe's supermarket and several restaurants - including Petrini's Italian, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, and TAP Thai - are within a 5-minute walk. Bus routes 6 and 11 provide public transport, but the property is not walkable to the waterfront or main tourist attractions. A dog park adjoins the property, which can contribute to noise during the day.

Each room includes a flat-screen TV, refrigerator, microwave, coffee and tea facilities, hair dryer, and free toiletries. The bathrooms are notably small - the shower and toilet are cramped, and the sink is positioned outside the bathroom in some room layouts. Air conditioning is available but can be noisy; window units may produce an odour if not recently maintained. Carpeted floors may show wear, and some light-switch covers have visible grime. Rooms on the ground floor are exposed to passersby on the walkway and noise from above. An upper-floor room away from the parking lot provides significantly more quiet and privacy. Bedding is comfortable with good-quality pillows, though foam pillows are dense.

The breakfast offerings include a self-serve waffle machine, assorted pastries and bagels, cereal, yogurt, juice, coffee, and tea. Sugar-free syrup is available on request. The breakfast room itself is tidy and provides a dedicated seating area, which is a practical advantage for a motel at this price point. The breakfast is best described as sufficient to start the day - it does not include hot proteins such as eggs or bacon. For a fuller meal, several restaurants are within a 5-minute walk: Petrini's Italian (0.5 km), The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (0.5 km), Los Agaves (0.5 km), and TAP Thai (0.5 km).
