The area is lively and can feel rough after dark, with sex shops and street drinkers, but public transport and nearby supermarkets make it practical for exploring the city. Free parking is available, though the neighbourhood has reported vehicle break-ins - the hotel's paid garage offers a safer alternative.

Rooms are compact overall, with the bathroom often described as extremely small - the toilet and shower space can be tight for taller or larger individuals. Some rooms place the washbasin in the bedroom to save space. The beds are generally comfortable, though some travellers found them too soft or narrow. Rooms facing the street can be noisy at night due to nightlife and emergency vehicles; rear courtyard rooms are significantly quieter. There is no air conditioning, but heating works well and must be turned on manually. Some rooms have soundproof walls, but internal noise from corridors and adjacent rooms is common. Select renovated rooms offer a fresher feel, but many rooms are dated with carpeted floors. A few single rooms are located next to the lift.
