BEARY BEST! HOSTEL KAMPONG GLAM, Singapore

Located in the cultural heart of Kampong Glam on Arab Street, this hostel puts you steps away from Sultan Mosque and dozens of Middle Eastern and Malay eateries (Zam Zam, Alaturka, and more within 0.5 km). Bugis MRT (10 min walk) and bus stops on two main roads (5 min) connect you to the rest of Singapore. Raffles City is 2 km away. The area is compact and walkable for sightseeing, with a 7-Eleven and souvenir shops nearby. Local activities include an ice-skating rink and boating. The sun terrace offers a good view of the neighbourhood.

The hostel offers bed-in-dormitory capsules only, in a large room of up to 28 beds. Each capsule includes a privacy curtain, two adjustable reading lights, a universal electrical socket, and a small shelf. The air conditioning runs from 3pm to 9am daily and can be very cold - plan accordingly. Towels are not provided. Flooring is tile/marble. The top bunks are high (over 2 m) with a steep ladder; climbing up and down is challenging. Rooms vary: some beds are spacious, others feel cramped. The dormitories can be noisy, especially at night, with no enforced quiet hours.

Dining on-site is not available - no breakfast service, no restaurant, no bar. The property does not offer cooking facilities, plates, cutlery, or hot drinks. However, the Kampong Glam neighbourhood is famous for its food scene: within a 0.5 km walk are Zam Zam, Beirut, Nasrin Restaurant, Sufi's Corner, and many others offering Middle Eastern, Malay, and Indian cuisine. A 7-Eleven is next door for basics. Tap water is safe to drink, but there is no hot water dispenser.

Leisure facilities are limited to a sun terrace furnished with outdoor seating and a picnic area. The terrace provides a pleasant spot to sit in the evening, with a view of the surrounding streets and Sultan Mosque. There is no pool, gym, spa, or common room inside the hostel. The surrounding area offers an ice-skating rink and boating.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Locker storage in the dormitory is large enough for big luggage, and each bed has its own individual locker. Daily housekeeping is included. Self check-in and check-out via codes sent through WhatsApp means no physical reception counter; a remote team is available by WhatsApp, but on-site staff presence is limited. Laundry facilities (washer and dryer) are available - note the dryer may not always work. An iron and ironing board are provided. No parking is available on site; paid street parking may be found nearby. Pets and cooking are not allowed.
