DAYS INN & SUITES BY WYNDHAM HOUSTON NORTH/ALDINE, Houston

The hotel sits along a major freeway corridor in North Houston/Aldine, 20 km from IAH and 16 km from Downtown. The Houston Zoo is 22 km away. Parking on site is free and easy to access, but the property has a real-world parking lot that contains junked cars and a vehicle repair operation, making it feel more like a tow lot than a secure hotel car park. Rear building doors do not reliably lock, which adds a safety concern for cars and pedestrians alike.

Standard rooms feature a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, ironing facilities, hairdryer, and free toiletries in a private bathroom. Deluxe rooms add a large bathtub. Select suites include a spa bath. Bedding options include king-size beds, and rollaway beds can sometimes be accommodated. However, the room experience is undermined by pervasive cleanliness failures: recurring insect infestation (cockroaches), stained bedding and pillows, dirty bathrooms with hard water stains, and upholstered furniture that is heavily stained and deteriorated. Air conditioning units often fail or stop cooling after the first night. The only elevator serves one side of a three-floor building, and guests must use separate doors at each end, which is awkward for moving luggage. Rooms on the freeway side are subject to road noise. There are no adjoining rooms and no rooms with a balcony.

Breakfast costs 5 USD per person and is a very basic continental buffet. The selection is limited and the serving window is short, so it will not suit anyone wanting a substantial morning meal. The property has no restaurant or bar. Guests seeking a broader breakfast or lunch/dinner options will need to rely on nearby fast-food or casual dining venues because nothing is available on site.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the property. Parking is free and does not require a reservation, though the lot is disorganised and used for storing abandoned vehicles. A business centre with fax/photocopying and meeting/banquet facilities (additional charge) is available for business travellers. Laundry services are offered for an additional fee. The 24-hour front desk can assist with express check-in/out. Safety features include CCTV, key card access, smoke alarms, and safety deposit boxes. The property is not pet-friendly, and no airport shuttle service is provided.
