ECONO LODGE DOWNTOWN, Ottawa

The motel is within a 20- to 25-minute walk of Parliament Hill, the Canadian National Art Gallery is about 2 km away, and the Byward Market with its many restaurants is a 20-minute walk. Public transport stops are close by, making the city centre and sites easy to reach. The immediate area has a number of restaurants such as New Shawarma King, Indian and Korean options all within a 0.5 km walk. Parking is free and easy to use, making it practical to park a car and explore the city. The location is particularly convenient for visiting the University of Ottawa and is suitable for a stay of one night when exploring the city by car or on foot.

Many rooms have been recently renovated and include useful amenities such as a mini-fridge, a microwave, an iron and an in-room coffee maker. Beds are comfortable and the bathroom features a deep bathtub with good water pressure. Some rooms have large windows and may face the street, where noise from the road or the air conditioning unit can be an issue, especially on the second floor. While the rooms are generally clean and spacious, some units may have older carpeting, and the motel is an older building that is being gradually updated. The property does not have a balcony. If noise is a concern, request a quiet room away from the street and confirm the air conditioning unit's operation.

For leisure, the hotel can arrange bike tours for an additional fee, allowing guests to explore Ottawa by bicycle. The central location makes it easy to reach Parliament Hill, the Rideau Canal, and the Byward Market. There is no fitness room or on-site leisure facilities, so guests needing a workout should plan to use nearby outdoor spaces or visit a local gym.

Parking is on-site and free for small cars, with a 20 CAD charge for buses and trucks; it is easy to use, though the lot can be tight. The 24-hour reception can assist with late check-in and provide luggage storage. A credit card or 200 CAD debit deposit is needed at check-in. There is a vending machine for drinks, and daily housekeeping is available on request but not automatic. The property has no laundry service, but the staff can help find a nearby laundromat. Fax/photocopying is available for an extra charge. Pets are not allowed, and the motel is non-smoking.
