However, the location provides excellent walkability: the city centre and Temple Bar are within 15 minutes on foot, and the Parnell LUAS tram stop (green line) is a 5-minute walk downhill. A bus stop is directly across the road, making public transport easy. Nearby attractions include the Irish Whiskey Museum and Dublin Castle, and Mountjoy Square Park is opposite, offering a pleasant view from upper-floor rooms. For those attending events at Croke Park or the Gate Theatre, the walk is around 10 minutes.

Rooms vary in size, with top-floor rooms often being particularly spacious and offering high ceilings and large windows overlooking the park or street. Each room includes a work desk, dining area, tea and coffee making facilities, and ample storage. The bathrooms are modern, with walk-in showers and free toiletries; some showers may initially be slightly tricky to operate. The building retains its original character with decorative wallpaper and fancy lighting, but all interiors have been updated. A shared bathroom option is available on some double rooms, though most rooms have private ensuite facilities. Heating is controllable, and plenty of power sockets are provided. Some rooms have a small sofa for extra seating. If noise is a concern, requesting a room away from the main road is advisable.

The shared kitchen on the ground floor includes a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, oven, coffee machine, kettle, and all necessary cookware and utensils. The fridge has labelled sections for each room. Complimentary tea and coffee are provided. The kitchen is clean and well-organised, and rarely busy, making it easy to cook full meals. For those who prefer eating out, numerous cafés and restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk, including Hill 16, Cobalt Cafe & Gallery, and The Castle Vaults Bar and Restaurant.

The property provides a washer and dryer for guest use, which is a convenient bonus for longer stays. Staff are not on-site 24/7 but are very responsive via messaging and can assist with luggage storage if arranged in advance. The building has no lift - rooms are on upper floors, reached by stairs. The entire property is non-smoking, and no pets are allowed. The reception area is used for key collection and drop-off only; the overall experience is self-service but supported by helpful communication from the host.
