HOTEL GIOTTO, Rome

Located in a quiet residential area on a hill, the hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the nearest metro station, with a slight uphill return. A bus stop is 3-5 minutes away, with a direct night bus to Termini station. The walk involves a narrow pavement not ideal for wheeled luggage. A supermarket is a few minutes away, and several cafés, pizzerias, and a bakery are within a short walk. The hotel's free on-site parking makes it a practical choice for drivers.

Room sizes are generally small, with single rooms being particularly compact. Double rooms vary, but many are described as small. The bathrooms are also compact; some have a shower over a tiny bathtub, while others are walk-in wet rooms. Soundproofing is poor, with noise from adjacent rooms and the street easily heard. Road-facing rooms and those near the café opposite can experience noise until late. Rooms on the 4th floor may have noise from furniture movement on the terrace above. A few rooms have limited natural light, and some have dated fixtures. Daily housekeeping is provided, with towel changes and fresh linen every few days. The hotel has a lift, though it may not reach the top floor.

The breakfast buffet is described as basic and repetitive, consisting of sliced bread, croissants, cereal, cold cuts, and cheese, plus fruit salad and a coffee machine-no hot cooked options. The dining room is in the basement and can feel cramped. The hotel bar and restaurant are closed for lunch and dinner, leaving only a vending machine for snacks and drinks. A café opposite the hotel serves coffee, sandwiches, and pizza, and a trattoria nearby offers Roman cuisine. A supermarket is also a short walk away for self-catering.

A free private parking area is available directly in front of the hotel, with no reservation needed-a significant advantage in Rome. The 24-hour front desk can arrange airport shuttle service at an additional charge. Luggage storage is available. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel but is often weak or non-existent in guest rooms; the best connection is in the lobby. The hotel has a lift, soundproofed rooms (though actual soundproofing is limited), and non-smoking rooms throughout. Meeting/banquet facilities and a safety deposit box are available. Daily housekeeping includes towel changes. Fax/photocopying is available on request.
