HOMEWOOD SUITES PHOENIX-SCOTTSDALE, Scottsdale

The location is a strong practical advantage. Scottsdale Road provides direct connections to the Mayo Clinic (both hospital and clinic within similar distance), Arizona State University, and spring training sites. A variety of restaurants including California Pizza Kitchen, Sandbar Mexican Grill, and Modern Oysterbar Chophouse are all within 0.5 km. A CVS and a cinema are also within walking distance. The complimentary shuttle service (8 km radius) can help reach further destinations without a car. Free on-site parking is ample and available without reservation.

Rooms are all-suite format with a separate bedroom and a living area with sofa bed. Kitchens include a full-size refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, dishes, and utensils. Bedroom layouts may have two double beds or a king; some rooms have twin beds. The property shows its age - furniture can be worn, carpets may look tired, and tub/shower surrounds are outdated. Some suites have quieter positions away from Scottsdale Road. Air conditioning units in some ground-floor rooms are loud and prevent window opening. Attention to cleanliness is inconsistent; some arrivals have encountered musty or smoky odours or non-working TVs. The vanity sink is outside the bathroom, and the bathroom light switch is on an exterior wall, so light spills into the bedroom.

Breakfast includes bagels, muffins, breads, a waffle maker, sausage, cheese omelets, cereals, yogurts with granola, fresh and dried fruits, hash browns, and spreads. Coffee is available all day in the lobby. The evening social (Monday-Thursday) offers a substantial dinner with beer and wine, including craft options like Kiltlifter. On weekends, the evening reception is not held. The hotel kitchenettes allow you to prepare additional meals. A grocery store and many restaurants are within a short walk for variety. Drink dispensers for beer and wine have reportedly been non-functional at times.

The outdoor swimming pool is free to use and has a small adjacent basketball court. The fitness centre contains two treadmills and one elliptical - no weight equipment. BBQ facilities are provided free of charge. For additional leisure, a golf course is located within 3 km, and a cinema is within walking distance. Pool cleanliness has been inconsistent; some periods have seen the pool unusable for days due to maintenance issues.

Wired internet in rooms is free of charge. The property offers a 24-hour front desk, express check-in/out, luggage storage, safety deposit boxes, and a business centre with fax/photocopying and meeting facilities. Laundry and dry cleaning are available (two guest washers and dryers on site). The complimentary shuttle runs within a 8 km radius. Housekeeping typically makes beds and replaces towels only; deeper cleaning may not occur daily. Wheelchair access is available. Pets are allowed with applicable charges. The lift serves multiple floors. Some guests have experienced billing disputes regarding early check-out fees, deposits not returned, and incorrect nightly rate adjustments.
