HOSTAL TRAJANO, Seville

Hostal Trajano sits 200 metres from La Campana shopping centre and a short stroll from Plaza de Hercules and the Metropol Parasol. All major sights, including the Alcázar and Plaza de España, are reachable on foot within 15-20 minutes. Plaza de Armas bus station (with airport coach services) is a 10-minute walk, and Santa Justa train station is a short bus ride away. The immediate area is packed with tapas bars, cafés and shops, but the street can be very noisy with traffic and pedestrians continuing late into the night. For car-free travellers the location is ideal, as no parking is available and taxis are easy to find at nearby Plaza del Duque.

All rooms are air-conditioned and heated, with a flat-screen TV, private bathroom with shower, and free fast Wi-Fi. Many rooms also include a balcony. However, accommodation is compact and very basic: some budget rooms have a tiny window facing a lightwell or a wall, and a private bathroom that is located outside the room rather than en suite. Rooms facing the street have single-glazed windows with minimal soundproofing, so traffic and pedestrian noise is significant throughout the night. The decor is dated but spotlessly clean, with daily housekeeping and towel changes. Travellers over 1.80 m may find the beds too short, and the bathrooms are very small. For a short city-break where value and location are the priority, the rooms are functional; light sleepers should prioritise interior-facing rooms or bring earplugs.

Hostal Trajano does not have a restaurant or serve breakfast, but the central location places dozens of dining options within a 2-5 minute walk. Nearby tapas bars include Perro Viejo Tapas (0.5 km), Lizarran Casa De Pinchos, and Barra Baja Restaurante. There are also various cafés such as Bloom Cafe y Copas, and supermarkets (Aldi, El Corte Inglés) are close by. Guests wanting a morning meal can easily find fresh coffee and pastries at nearby spots. The lack of an on-site restaurant is a typical trade-off for a budget central guesthouse, and the wide choice in the neighbourhood compensates well.

The main leisure facilities are the rooftop sun terrace with city views and the traditional Andalusian courtyard with a small fountain - both available for guests to use. There is no pool, spa, or gym on site. The property's central location means that the city's parks, such as the Alameda de Hercules next door, are quickly accessible for outdoor relaxation.
