HOTEL BIGALLO, Florence

The hotel occupies a small street off Via dei Calzaioli in the heart of the historic centre, placing you steps from the Duomo, Baptistery, and Giotto's Bell Tower. Major landmarks such as Piazza della Signoria (5 minutes), Ponte Vecchio (10 minutes), and the Accademia Gallery (10 minutes) are all within easy walking distance. The surrounding area is packed with shops, artisan workshops, restaurants, and trattorias. Santa Maria Novella station is a 10-minute walk or short bus ride, and regular transport links connect Florence Airport (Amerigo Vespucci) to the station. A taxi from the airport costs approximately €22 plus €1 per bag. The hotel's location in a pedestrian zone provides a quiet environment at street level, though early morning Duomo bells begin ringing from 7:00.

Breakfast is set in a small, windowless room on the same floor as reception. The buffet is continental in style and includes packaged items such as sliced cheese and ham, plus a coffee machine for espresso and cappuccino. Seating is limited, so queues can form during peak times. No cooked hot options are available, and the selection is basic but sufficient for a 3-star property. For longer stays, the limited variety may become repetitive. No lunch or dinner is served on site, but the bar offers drinks and simple snacks throughout the day. The hotel is surrounded by numerous restaurants, trattorias, and cafés within a two-minute walk, including options on Via dei Calzaioli and Piazza della Repubblica.

The 24-hour front desk can arrange city tours, wine tours, excursions to Tuscany, and taxi transfers. Luggage storage is free of charge and can be used before check-in and after check-out for up to one day. Room service is available, but there is no coffee-making equipment in guest rooms; a coffee machine in the breakfast room can be used during hours. The lift is small and narrow, accommodating only one or two people with luggage. Parking is off-site via partner garages (Garage Alfani or Garage Giglio) at €25 per night for standard cars; a valet service can retrieve and park the vehicle. Public parking nearby is also possible at €40 per day. Pets are allowed on request with possible charges. Accepted payment methods include Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, and CartaSi.
