HOTEL CASALI, Rome

Hotel Casali sits within a 2-minute walk of Roma Termini, the city's main rail and transport hub. This gives direct connections to all metro lines (including Vittorio Emanuele, 9 minutes on foot), buses, trams, and trains to Ciampino (14 km) and Fiumicino airports. Santa Maria Maggiore basilica is 400 metres away, and the Colosseum is within walking distance (roughly 20 minutes). The neighbourhood has a dense concentration of restaurants, cafés, and supermarkets (including a KFC next door and Tigra supermarket around the corner). Roma Termini is the main bus terminal for airport shuttles, making late-night arrivals dependent on taxis, since public transport stops around midnight. The area is a major transit node, so movement between sights is straightforward, but street activity late at night can be intense.

The property offers single, double, triple, and quadruple rooms. All rooms include a private bathroom with shower, bidet, and hairdryer, plus free toiletries. Each room has a seating area, wardrobe, work desk, electric kettle, and safe. Soundproof walls are standard, but rooms facing the street can pick up night-time street noise, and internal noise from the corridor and adjacent rooms carries easily. Some rooms have been renovated (newer furniture, fresh paint), while others show dated furnishings, stained carpets, worn mattresses, and maintenance issues such as broken shower doors or poor lighting. Air conditioning and heating are available; some units may function intermittently. Rooms are compact, especially for four guests. The building houses multiple hotels on different floors; the lift serves the whole building and is small and sometimes unreliable.

Breakfast costs 6 EUR per person and is served on the premises. It includes a selection of sweet pastries (croissants, buns), bread with spreads (jam, Nutella, butter, processed cheese), cereal with milk, and hot drinks from an espresso machine. Juice (sometimes from a vending machine) is available. The breakfast room is very small and shared with guests from other hotels in the same building, leading to crowding and queuing. Tablecloths and tables often appear dirty and are changed infrequently. Guests with dietary restrictions (e.g., needing yoghurt, fresh fruit, or savoury items) will find the offering insufficient. There is no restaurant on-site for lunch or dinner. The surrounding area has dozens of restaurants, pizzerias, and fast-food outlets within a 2-5 minute walk, including a KFC next door.
