HOTEL ELITE, Florence

Hotel Elite sits on a street overlooking the Church of Santa Maria Novella, just 200 metres from the train station. The Duomo is reachable in under 10 minutes on foot, and Ponte Vecchio is about 5 to 10 minutes away. The property is located within a residential building on a side street, so it is quiet enough for sleep while being steps from Florence's main sights, restaurants, and the central market. For drivers, paid private parking is available nearby, but the hotel lies in a limited traffic zone (ZTL), so advance planning for car access is essential.

Room sizes vary; single rooms are very compact, and double rooms can be small with limited space for luggage. All rooms include a private bathroom (some with shower only, a few with a separate toilet in the room), air conditioning, heating, free toiletries, and a hairdryer. Many rooms have windows but those facing the street can be noisy due to poor soundproofing; rooms at the back are quieter. Mosquitoes are occasionally reported in warmer months. The property is housed in a historic building, and the interior features a beautiful wooden staircase, though the entrance and stairs up to the lobby are less polished. The overall style is functional and dated, best suited for budget-conscious travellers prioritising location over modern decor.

Hotel Elite does not offer breakfast in-house, but a paid breakfast can be arranged at the nearby Hotel Domus Florentiae (owned by the same group, a short walk away) for around €7. The surrounding streets are packed with restaurants and cafés, including Osteria Pastella, Ostaria dei Centopoveri, and Ristorante Benedicta within a 5-minute walk. A vending machine in the lobby provides snacks and hot/cold drinks at reasonable prices.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the property but its stability in rooms varies - the lobby area tends to have a stronger signal. The reception is open from approximately 09:00 to 16:00; outside these hours, guests use a key to access the building and their room. The cleaning staff tidy rooms daily, replacing towels and making beds. Luggage storage is offered at no charge, often at the partner hotel after check-out. There is no lift, and the building has multiple flights of stairs. Pets are allowed at no extra cost.
