HOTEL GIUGGIOLI, Rome

This budget hotel sits on a quiet, tree-lined street in Prati, one of Rome's most sought-after residential neighbourhoods. The immediate area is filled with cafés, pizzerias, trattorias, wine bars and shops, giving you plenty of options for evening meals. Vatican City and Saint Peter's Basilica are about 10 minutes away on foot. Strolling east across the Tiber brings you to Piazza del Popolo and the historic centre, while Castel Sant'Angelo is a 15-minute walk south. The Lepanto metro station (Line A) is about 5 minutes away and connects directly to Termini station, Piazza di Spagna, the Colosseum and Circo Massimo. Ottaviano metro station is similarly close, and tram and bus links provide easy access to Villa Borghese and the Stadio Olimpico.

Rooms are furnished in a contemporary style with dark wood, pearl-grey tones and parquet floors. All come with air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, a minibar, and a safe deposit box. The private bathrooms include a shower, hairdryer and free toiletries. The smallest rooms are the single rooms: compact but with a French bed and a balcony overlooking the street. Double and twin rooms offer either one double or two single beds, and you can choose between a shower or a bath. Triple rooms are the most spacious, with either three single beds or one double plus one single. The accommodation occupies part of the first floor of a 19th-century palazzo. Some rooms face the inner courtyard, others face the street - road-facing units can be noisier than courtyard-facing ones.

Breakfast availability depends on the rate you book - some rates include it, others do not, so it is important to check the details before confirming your reservation. When available, the continental buffet includes bread, pastries, hot drinks and juice. The on-site bar serves aperitifs, Italian wines, cheese and snacks until midnight, and food and drink can be delivered to your room on request. The hotel does not operate a restaurant, but the Prati neighbourhood is full of cafés, pizzerias and trattorias within a short walk. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are also available on site.

The fitness centre is free to use and equipped with basic gym equipment, open daily from 08:00 to 21:00. There is no spa, no swimming pool, and no other leisure facilities on site. For active exploration, walking to Vatican City or the historic centre are the main recreational activities.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi throughout the building. The 24-hour front desk can assist with concierge services and tour bookings. Luggage storage is available for free after check-out and before check-in, making it convenient for late departures or early arrivals. Other practical amenities include a lift, key card access, 24-hour security, CCTV in common areas, fire extinguishers, and a safety deposit box. Vending machines for drinks and snacks are available on site. No parking is available, and there is no on-site airport shuttle, though private airport transfers can be arranged for a fee. Pets are not allowed.
