HOTEL LAFAYETTE, Hamburg

The hotel sits on one of Hamburg's most famous streets, surrounded by clubs, bars, restaurants, and the historic Fishmarket. Despite its central party-area location, the building is set back slightly - however, street-facing rooms are exposed to significant noise from traffic, ambulances, and nightlife. The S-Bahn station is a 1-minute walk away, providing direct connections to the city centre and Hamburg Airport. A supermarket is located next door for supplies. Guests arriving by car can use the on-site private parking for €15/day, but spaces are limited and cannot be reserved.

Standard rooms are compact - adequate for a city break where you plan to be out most of the day. Some recently renovated rooms have modern finishes, while many other rooms feel dated with old carpets, worn furniture, and aging bathrooms. Bathrooms are described as very small, with showers that have low water pressure. The building lacks air conditioning; windows provide the only ventilation, but they offer poor sound insulation, making street-facing rooms very noisy. Rooms on higher floors or facing the courtyard are significantly quieter. Bed sizes vary: some rooms have a single 1.40m bed, others have two single beds pushed together. Heating is automatic and not adjustable in some rooms. Storage space is limited.

There is no on-site restaurant or bar. A complimentary coffee (one cup per person) is offered in the dining area each morning between 08:00 and 11:00; additional cups are charged at €2 each. The dining area can be used to consume self-brought food - the supermarket next door is a convenient option for stocking up. The surrounding streets offer dozens of restaurants, from casual eateries to bars with food, within a 2-minute walk.
