HOTEL MARCONI EXPRESS, Bologna

The hotel sits on the first floor of a residential building in a mixed-use neighbourhood. Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport is 9 km away - take the Marconi Express shuttle from the station (€11 per person, starts at 5:40 AM). Public transport is excellent, but the immediate area includes a few vacant buildings. Key landmarks like Piazza Maggiore and the Museum for the Memory of Ustica are within a 15-minute walk. Several restaurants including Il Veliero, Trattoria Da Romano, and Bar Max are within 0.5 km. The train station proximity is ideal for day trips to other cities.

Rooms are recently refurbished in a modern style with marble floors and include a fridge, safe (large enough for a laptop), and wardrobe. Bathrooms are a standout feature - spacious with walk-in showers, heated towel rails, and complimentary toiletries. However, single rooms are very compact, and road-facing rooms can be noisy; inner courtyard views are quieter. Air conditioning units have been reported as difficult to control. Room types include double, twin/double, triple, and quadruple, with the quadruple offering extra space. The property is suitable for families and has family rooms and cots available.

The breakfast is a basic Italian-style offering from a neighbouring bar - typically a sweet or savoury pastry, coffee or tea, and a bottle of water. It is not served on-site and is a simple, pre-set choice rather than a full buffet. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, but the location is surrounded by eateries within a 5-minute walk, including trattorias, pizzerias, and bars for lunch and dinner.

The hotel does not have a spa, gym, pool, or sauna. It is a practical, no-frills property focused on comfortable accommodation and easy access to the city. For wellness activities, guests can explore the city centre, which offers numerous parks and cultural sites within walking distance.

The hotel provides a lift to the first floor, key card and key access, CCTV in common areas, and a safety deposit box in each room (free). Daily housekeeping is included, and fax/photocopying is available for an extra charge. Luggage storage is free and can be used both before check-in and after check-out. Bicycle storage is possible (a garage option may incur a small fee). Payment is accepted via Visa, Maestro, CartaSi, and MasterCard. The self check-in system for arrivals after 20:00 works via a link sent to your phone, but ensure you have provided your documents in advance. The hotel is wheelchair accessible with an emergency cord in the bathroom.
