HOTEL MARSALA, Rome

The hotel sits on Via Marsala, directly opposite the main Termini station, making it an ideal base for travellers arriving by train or needing quick connections across Rome. The metro (both lines A and B) is a 2-minute walk, and the airport shuttle bus stops at the station entrance. Major landmarks such as the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Spanish Steps are within a 15-20 minute walk. The area is well served by restaurants, pizzerias, shops, and a supermarket. A taxi from Fiumicino Airport costs around 40 EUR, and from Ciampino around 30 EUR; express trains and shuttle buses also run to Termini every 30 minutes.

Room sizes vary, with some described as spacious and others as compact, typical of a budget city hotel. Beds are generally comfortable, though some double beds are two single mattresses pushed together, which can separate. Rooms with shared bathrooms are located on floors with communal facilities, and noise from adjacent shared bathrooms can be noticeable. A fan is provided in every room (no air conditioning); windows open but street and church bell noise may affect light sleepers. Daily housekeeping, fresh towels, and clean linen are standard. In-room amenities include a mini-bar, satellite TV with multilingual channels, in-room safe, and direct-dial telephone.

Breakfast is served at the partner property next door (Hotel Stromboli) and includes a buffet with bread, pastries, cereals, cheese, ham, yogurt, fruit, and hot items such as eggs and sausages. The cost is 5 EUR per person if not included in the booking (included when booking online). Coffee is from a machine; some may find it basic. For guests wanting a lighter or more varied morning meal, several cafés and bars are within a short walk on Via Marsala and around Termini. The surrounding area offers countless restaurants and pizzerias within a 5-minute walk.

The hotel does not offer a pool, spa, gym, or similar leisure amenities. The emphasis is on providing a clean, no-frills base for guests who plan to spend most of their time sightseeing. The central location means bars, restaurants, and cinema (with original-language films) are within a short walk.
