IH HOTELS FIRENZE SELECT, Florence

The hotel sits in a quiet, safe residential zone about 2 km from Santa Maria Novella station and the city's main sights. Walking to the Duomo or Ponte Vecchio takes around 20-30 minutes. For quicker access, bus stops for lines 17 and 22 (10 minutes to the station) and a tram stop (10-minute ride to the centre) are within a couple of minutes' walk. Several restaurants, pizzerias, and a minimarket are within 0.5 km, and the area is well-lit at night. The location is practical for those who prefer a quieter base near transport rather than being directly in the tourist crowds, but may feel far for those wanting immediate proximity to attractions.

The hotel offers a range of rooms including standard doubles, twins, and larger family rooms. Some are located in the main building, while others are in an annex (Executive Residence) across the street, which features modern studio-style units with a kitchenette. Room sizes vary: many are spacious with large bathrooms, while some (especially in the main building) can be compact, with double beds pressed against the wall to save space. All rooms are non-smoking, carpeted, and include air conditioning, a mini-bar, flat-screen TV, and a private bathroom. The overall décor is older but clean and well-maintained. Practical details to note: some rooms have limited window size or are in converted attic spaces; street-facing rooms can be noisy. Pillows and mattresses are firm; some have noted the beds can be hard. Daily housekeeping is provided and included.

The breakfast buffet includes a selection of bread, pastries (croissants, biscuits), cold cuts, cheese, boiled eggs, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit, and juices. Hot drinks (coffee, tea) are from a self-serve machine. The spread is generous for a 3-star hotel, with options for both sweet and savoury preferences. Breakfast is served from 07:00 to 10:00. The hotel also offers room service and a vending machine for drinks and snacks at reception. A breakfast in the room option is available on request. For other meals, several trattorias and pizzerias are within a 5-minute walk.

The hotel does not have dedicated wellness or leisure facilities such as a pool, spa, or gym. The main leisure amenity is the shared lounge/TV area on site, and outdoor furniture is available for use. Guests seeking extensive wellness options may prefer to explore city-centre spas or fitness centres, but for a functional city stay, the hotel's focus is on comfortable accommodation and practical services.

Key services include free Wi-Fi throughout the property, 24-hour front desk with concierge and tour desk, and free luggage storage for after check-out. The on-site private parking (€18 per day, must be reserved) is a significant advantage in Florence. Additional paid services include laundry, dry cleaning, ironing, and meeting/banquet facilities. Daily housekeeping is free. A safety deposit box (key-based) is available at reception. The property has a lift but the annex across the street may have stairs. The hotel provides key card access, 24-hour security and smoke alarms. The staff are generally described as helpful, though some interactions have been inconsistent. An emergency cord is fitted in the bathroom for accessibility.
