The hostel sits in the Georgian quarter near the university, within easy walking distance of the two cathedrals, the main shopping streets, and the Albert Dock. Liverpool Central and Lime Street stations are both around 5-10 minutes on foot, providing direct rail links to the airport and the wider region. A bus stop just outside offers direct routes to the city centre and airport. Several restaurants and bars are literally on the doorstep, and Bold Street - known for its diverse food scene - is a short stroll away. For those arriving by car, the nearest long-stay car park (ParkBee, L1 4AT) is a short walk, but there is no on-site parking.

The hostel offers private double and twin rooms (with two single floor beds, not bunks) as well as shared dormitories in 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-bed configurations. Some rooms are in the basement and lack windows, which can feel stuffy in summer. Fans are provided in some rooms but not all dormitories. Bedding is included, but towels cost £1 to rent. Storage cages under the bunks are lockable - bring your own padlock or rent one from reception (deposit £10 for the padlock). Beds are a mix of metal-framed bunks and single beds; some mattresses have been noted as thin and springy. Rooms on the ground floor or facing the street can be noisy due to nearby bars, so a room away from the street is preferable for light sleepers.

The hostel does not have its own restaurant or bar, but the full shared kitchen includes a microwave, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, and utensils. Free tea and coffee are available all day in the kitchen area. The location on a street packed with cafes, pubs, and restaurants means finding a meal is straightforward. Bold Street, Liverpool's food hub, is a 5-minute walk away. A vending machine with drinks is available in the hostel, though it has occasionally been out of order.

The shared lounge area is equipped with a flat-screen TV and a pool table, along with a selection of board games. There is no gym, swimming pool, or spa on site. The lounge furniture has been described as worn, but the space remains functional for relaxing or socialising with other travellers.

Wi-Fi is free in rooms and common areas. The 24-hour front desk means late check-in is no problem, and a key card provides secure room access. Lockers are available in dorm rooms, and a luggage storeroom is free before check-in and costs £1 after check-out. Laundry service is offered for an extra fee. Irons are available on request with a £10 fully refundable deposit. The building has a lift. Safety features include 24-hour security, CCTV in common areas, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers.
