The hotel is in a residential Mid-City neighborhood, a 2-minute walk from the Canal Street streetcar stop. The streetcar runs frequently and takes 8-15 minutes to reach the French Quarter, downtown, and the Superdome. A day pass costs around $1.50. For car users, free secure parking is available on site. The area has limited late-night foot traffic. Walking to Bourbon Street takes about 30 minutes. Several restaurants, supermarkets (Whole Foods is 0.5 km away), a taco truck, and a café are within a short walk. An airport bus stop is also nearby. Using the streetcar is the most reliable way to access major attractions; the immediate neighborhood is quieter and less tourist-focused.

Rooms are small, clean, and newly renovated with a modern aesthetic. Each has a private bathroom, air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV with YouTube and pay-TV but no standard channels, and free Wi-Fi. Beds are comfortable with good pillows. Rooms lack a desk, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Soundproofing is poor - noise from hallways and neighboring rooms is easily heard, and street-facing rooms can be noisy. Light leaks under the door. There is no elevator, so rooms on the second floor require carrying luggage up stairs. Windows may not lock securely on the first floor. Daily housekeeping is not automatic and must be requested if needed.

Lucky Inn does not have a restaurant, bar, or breakfast service. In the lobby, guests can access free coffee and bottled water, as well as a vending machine with snacks. A microwave is also available in the lobby for guest use. For meals, several restaurants and a taco truck are within a 5-minute walk, including Whole Foods Market (0.5 km), Liberty's Kitchen Cafe and Coffee House (0.5 km), and Betsy's Pancake House (0.5 km). The French Quarter and downtown dining areas are a short streetcar ride away.
