PALACE HOTEL DUE PONTI, Siena

The hotel sits on a main road in a suburban area, about a 5-10 minute drive to Siena's historic centre. A bus stop is nearby but service is limited, especially in the evening - a taxi from the centre costs around 14 EUR. By car, the hotel is well placed for exploring Tuscany: Montepulciano and San Gimignano are a 50-minute drive, and Florence can be reached in under one hour. Free on-site parking makes car travel the most practical option. Walking to the centre is not recommended due to distance and lack of pedestrian routes.

Room types include double, twin/double, and triple configurations (the triple can be set as a double plus a single or three separate beds). All feature air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV, safe, and private bathroom with shower, bidet, hairdryer, and free toiletries. Minibar is present but charges apply - no price list is shown in the room. Only two rooms have a balcony; request at booking. Soundproofing between rooms and from the road is limited, so light sleepers may hear noise from neighbours or traffic. Room sizes vary; some bathrooms are small and dated. Renovations are in progress, so you may receive a modern or an older room depending on availability. Daily housekeeping is included.

Breakfast is a buffet served from around 7:30, costing 10 EUR. It includes continental items and American hot dishes. The quality and variety are generally good but can diminish after 9:00 when replenishment slows. Dinner is served Monday to Saturday from 19:30 to 21:30 in the modern-style restaurant. The menu features Italian dishes, and the homemade tiramisu is particularly noted. Special dietary requirements can be accommodated with advance notice. The bar and snack bar offer lighter options, and packed lunches are available on request. Wine and champagne are available for an extra charge.

The hotel offers a 24-hour front desk with security and CCTV coverage. Free luggage storage is available for early arrivals or late departures. Daily housekeeping is included and towels and bedding are changed daily. The property is wheelchair accessible, with lowered bathroom sinks, grab rails, raised toilet, and an emergency cord. Business services (fax, photocopying, meeting rooms) can be arranged for an additional fee. A safety deposit box is available at reception (extra charge). No pets are allowed, and the entire hotel is non-smoking. Cots can be provided for children on request. Free private parking is on site and does not require a reservation, though availability is on a first-come, first-served basis - overflow parking is available nearby.
