PLEASANT ROOMING HOUSE, Washington

The Pleasant Rooming House is situated in a lively, busy neighbourhood with a high concentration of restaurants, cafes and a Target within a few minutes' walk. The Columbia Heights Metro station (Green Line) is 2-3 blocks away, providing a direct connection to downtown and the National Mall. The White House is about 4 km (around a 30-40 minute walk). Bus stops are immediately nearby. Street noise from pedestrians and traffic can be audible in rooms facing the street, especially until late. The area is generally considered safe, though some late-night street activity is normal. The nearest restaurant is Pupuseria San Miguel, just 0.5 km away.

All rooms are double rooms with one bed each. Each room is air conditioned and heated, and includes a tea and coffee maker, a desk, a seating area, and a flat-screen TV. Rooms offer either city or garden views. The rooms are furnished in a simple, older style and vary in size and quality; some feel spacious while others are compact. Every room has access to a fully equipped shared kitchen (stovetop, oven, refrigerator, cookware). Most rooms have carpeted flooring. Note that access to upper-floor rooms is via a narrow staircase, which can be difficult with large luggage. A fireplace is available in one room. Some rooms have a terrace, and a barbecue is provided for guest use.

The property does not provide breakfast or operate a restaurant or bar. The shared kitchen is fully equipped with a stovetop, oven, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, cookware and utensils, allowing guests to prepare their own meals. There is no dedicated dining room, but there is a dining area and terrace for eating. A barbecue is available for outdoor cooking. The surrounding area is rich with dining options: Pupuseria San Miguel, Haydee's Restaurant, The Raven, Purple Patch, Beau Thai Mount Pleasant and Ercilia's are all within a 0.5 km walk. There is also a Target nearby for groceries.

Wellness and leisure options are limited to the property's garden and terrace, which provide outdoor seating in a residential setting. There is no gym, pool, sauna, or spa. An ice-skating rink is located in the surroundings, and the vibrant Mount Pleasant and Columbia Heights neighbourhoods offer restaurants, cafes and shopping within walking distance.
