RODEWAY INN PORTLAND AIRPORT, Portland

The hotel sits steps from the MAX light rail's Parkrose/Sumner Transit Center, providing a direct link to both Portland International Airport and downtown Portland for a low all-day fare. The immediate area is a mix of freeways, gas stations, and commercial lots. Elmer's Restaurant and Bill's Steak House are within a 0.5 km walk. The neighborhood's convenience for airport access contrasts with a busy roadside setting, so rooms facing the freeway can be noisy. Travelers arriving by car will appreciate the free on-site parking, with spaces available directly outside many rooms.

The accommodation prioritizes function over style. Rooms offer air conditioning, an AM/FM alarm clock, and carpeted floors. Beds are frequently noted as comfortable, often featuring a memory-foam feel. Each room includes a private bathroom, though bathroom fixtures are old and the grout and showerheads may show wear. Noise from thin walls, adjacent rooms, and the nearby freeway can affect sleep; rooms in buildings farther from the road are quieter. There are no in-room microwaves, fridges, or coffee makers. Lighting can be minimal. While rooms are spacious for the price, the overall feel is basic and better suited for a brief, budget-focused overnight stay rather than a prolonged retreat.

The hotel offers a free continental breakfast that typically includes coffee, pastries, cereal, fruit, and yogurt. For a more substantial meal, Elmer's Restaurant is directly across the street, serving hot breakfast and other meals. Bill's Steak House and Pho Dalat are also within a 0.5 km walk, giving budget-conscious travelers several off-site dining options without needing a car. The property itself does not have an on-site restaurant or bar, so those wanting a full hot breakfast or dinner should plan to eat at one of the nearby eateries.

An outdoor swimming pool is available during the warmer months. It is located in a visible area by the parking lot but is kept clean. For those wanting to exercise, a free fitness centre is available. The pool and gym are practical add-ons for a budget motel, offering a way to relax or stay active without leaving the property. The leisure and TV room provides an indoor space for downtime.

The 24-hour front desk can assist with luggage storage for early arrivals or late departures. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property, though connection stability has been noted as intermittent. The airport shuttle was a key advertised feature, but its availability has been inconsistent. Travelers should confirm shuttle service directly with the hotel before arrival or plan for a short rideshare trip. Free private parking is available on site without a reservation. A laundry service is also available for longer stays.
