ROOMS BARCO, Madrid

The apartment occupies a quiet street just 100 metres from the lively Gran Vía, giving you immediate access to the city's main shopping, dining, and entertainment arteries. All major landmarks are within walking distance: the Prado Museum, Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace, and the vibrant bars and boutiques of Malasaña and Chueca. The nearby metro connects directly to Atocha AVE station and Madrid-Barajas Airport (via Nuevos Ministerios on line 8). The street is surprisingly calm for a central location, but the area is a busy tourist hub; the immediate vicinity of the building can have street odours typical of a dense city centre. Restaurants such as La Tasquita de Enfrente and Hattori Hanzo are within a 5-minute walk.

Rooms are individually rented within an apartment that also contains a shared kitchen and two shared bathrooms. The double rooms have one bed, and the triple rooms have two beds (one double for two adults and a single sofa bed). All rooms include air conditioning (centrally controlled, so individual adjustment is limited), a washing machine, a tea and coffee maker, and a wardrobe. The shared bathrooms are cleaned daily and are generally described as spacious and well-maintained. In practice, the rooms are basic and compact-perfect for 1-3 nights but less suited to long stays with large suitcases. Some rooms lack a mirror, which can be inconvenient given the shared bathroom. The building's internal walls are not well soundproofed; noise from other guests using the bathrooms and kitchen at night is audible.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge in all areas and has been reported as reliable. A laundry service is available for an additional charge (reported as €10). Daily cleaning is performed in the shared kitchen and bathrooms, a practice that contributes to the generally high cleanliness standards noted by many. The property uses key access only for security and provides an invoice upon request. Cots can be provided (free or on request, as per policy). Luggage storage is available at a nearby property for €5 per day-useful if you arrive before the 16:00 check-in or need to store bags after check-out. The reception service is limited; check-in is arranged by appointment and handled by staff who may not always be on-site immediately, so coordination in advance is essential.
