Tide Pool Villas is situated a few steps from West Beach, directly across from the Santa Barbara Wharf, and within an easy 5-minute walk to the Amtrak station and downtown State Street. Santa Barbara City College is 1 km away and the Museum of Art is 2 km. The property is 16 km from the airport. While the location provides excellent walkability to the beach, pier, restaurants (The Lark, Blackbird, Finney's, and Rusty's Pizza Parlor all within 0.3-0.5 km), and nightlife, parking on site is limited and unreserved, meaning those arriving by car may need to find street parking (some zones require permits). For light sleepers, the proximity to a busy area may be a consideration, though the immediate block is primarily residential.

Units include studios and one- to two-bedroom apartments with separate living rooms, kitchens or kitchenettes, and private bathrooms with both bath and shower. Each unit has a private entrance, tiled floors, a seating area, flat-screen TV, washing machine, and soundproof walls. Some apartments feature a fireplace, hot tub, and full kitchen with stove, refrigerator, kitchenware, and oven. Beds are 1 to 3 per unit, designed to sleep 2-6 people. Rooms are generally spacious, and newly renovated units (in the Tide Pool Villa building) are described as clean, modern, and well-appointed. However, some older units may be outdated and have maintenance issues such as broken windows, ripped furniture, or inadequate kitchen supplies. Ocean-view rooms are available in the renovated building. All units are air-conditioned and include heating, and non-smoking throughout.

Breakfast is a continental-style offering including bread, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, coffee, and tea served at the sister property across the street. The breakfast area is accessible during set hours (07:30-22:30) but requires a card key for entry outside those times. The hot breakfast add-on includes a waffle maker, though the machine may be inconsistent. A wine and cheese happy hour is offered on select evenings at the same location. For full meals, the surrounding area offers a wide variety of restaurants within a 5-minute walk, including The Lark, Blackbird, Finney's, and Santa Barbara FisHouse. The kitchen-equipped units allow self-catering for guests wanting to prepare their own meals.

The outdoor swimming pool is open year-round and includes sun loungers, umbrellas, and pool/beach towels. The hot tub/Jacuzzi is free to use, as is a spa lounge/relaxation area with sun loungers. A fitness centre is also available. For outdoor activities, the beach is directly accessible, and walking tours and happy-hour events are offered (some for a fee). The barbecue facilities on the back patio may be poorly maintained and are not recommended for cooking.

Free WiFi is available throughout. Parking is free, private, and on-site but unreserved and can fill up; street parking with permit restrictions is possible nearby. The meeting/banquet facilities can be arranged, and laundry service is available for an additional charge. Concierge service and invoice provision are offered.
