The hotel sits on a busy street in the Old Town, with the Royal Mile less than a minute away. Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood Palace, and Arthur's Seat are all within a 15-20 minute walk. Public transport is convenient: bus stops and the tram (at St Andrew Square) are a five-minute walk. The immediate area has many pubs, restaurants, and a convenience store. Car access: the hotel's car park is entered from a side street not covered by the LEZ zone, but driving along the main Cowgate may incur a fine - use the correct approach. The street can be noisy, especially on weekend nights, but double glazing reduces sound. Expect uphill walking to the Castle and Princes Street.

Standard rooms are clean and comfortable with a double or twin beds, tea/coffee facilities, a TV, and an ironing board. 'Superrooms' include a Lavazza coffee machine and extra pillows, but do not have a fridge or complimentary bottled water as sometimes advertised. Parking is available at the rear (approx. 30 spaces, first-come, no reservation) for £20 per 24 hours - the rate is reasonable for central Edinburgh. Blue Badge holders can park for free in designated spots. Electric vehicle charging is not mentioned. Housekeeping follows a 6-day cycle unless a 'top me up' sign is placed on the door by 11:00 for daily towel replacement and replenishment of tea/coffee. Laundry services are not listed.
