CHIC&BASIC REDING, Barcelona

The hotel is set 400 metres from Plaza Catalunya, which serves as a major transport hub with direct airport buses stopping 450 metres away. Universitat Metro (red and green lines) is a one-minute walk, offering easy access across Barcelona and to key sights like the Gothic Quarter, Casa Batlló, and La Sagrada Família. The area is safe and well-connected, with a supermarket 30 metres away and numerous restaurants and bars within a 5-minute walk. Rooms facing the street can be noisier, especially with windows open, while rear-facing rooms are noticeably quieter. For car-free travel, the metro and Aerobus are the fastest options; taxis to the airport cost around €35-40.

Each room is equipped with satellite TV, a safe, minibar (complimentary first day), trouser press, and a modern private bathroom with hairdryer, magnifying mirror, and toiletries. Superior rooms include a terrace, while standard rooms have a window only. Rooms are compact and some have limited storage, making them best suited for short stays or city-breakers who plan to spend little time indoors. Soundproofing is present, but road-facing rooms may still pick up street noise. Air conditioning is available but can be inconsistent; some rooms may require leaving the window open for cooling, which increases noise. Beds are available as double or twin, and triple rooms offer three single beds or a double plus a single. Blackout curtains are fitted in most rooms.

Breakfast costs €9 per person per day if booked as an add-on, or €12 per person as part of a package. The continental buffet includes bread, pastries, yogurt, fruit, and hot drinks; the takeaway box contains a sandwich, yogurt, fruit cup, croissant, and a drink. The breakfast offering is basic and consistent, and some may find it limited for longer stays. There is no restaurant on-site, but the bar/lounge serves snacks and drinks, and a vending machine offers drinks and snacks. The surrounding area has many cafés and restaurants within a 2-minute walk for those seeking a wider choice.

The gym is very small, containing a few small weights, an elliptical machine, and a step machine. Bicycle rental, walking tours, and cultural activity classes are available for an additional charge. For guests seeking full wellness facilities, the hotel's central location provides easy access to private fitness studios, parks, and spa centres within walking distance.
