VILLA MARGHERITA, Venice

Villa Margherita sits in a peaceful, less tourist-laden part of Cannaregio, about 12-15 minutes on foot from Santa Lucia station (or 10 minutes by water taxi plus a short walk). The area offers a genuine local feel, with several bars, restaurants, and a well-stocked supermarket just 5 minutes away. The water taxi stop nearby provides easy access to Rialto Bridge (2 km) and St. Mark's Square, while the 14-minute walk to Ca' d'Oro makes a scenic route into the main sights. Airport travellers can reach Marco Polo Airport (12 km) via water taxi or a combo of people mover and Alilaguna water bus.

Each apartment features air conditioning, soundproof walls, parquet or tiled floors, and a flat-screen TV. The fully equipped kitchen includes a stovetop, refrigerator, dishwasher, kettle, and cookware, plus a tea and coffee maker. Bedding options range from one-bedroom (sleeps 2-4) to three-bedroom (sleeps up to 6) layouts, with sofa beds in the living area. Bathrooms are private with a shower and bidet. Review feedback highlights spotless, almost new interiors, comfortable beds, bright and spacious rooms, and effective air conditioning across all bedrooms. Apartments with three bedrooms have windows overlooking the canal, and the living area offers garden views. All units have a private entrance and a washing machine.

Villa Margherita does not provide breakfast or operate a restaurant or bar. The well-equipped kitchen in each apartment (with dishwasher, stove, and kettle) makes self-catering straightforward, and a discount supermarket 5 minutes away offers a broad selection of groceries at better prices than city-centre shops. Within a 0.5 km radius, there are at least 8 restaurants and cafés, including Osteria Ai 40 Ladroni, Trattoria Alle Due Gondolette, and casual spots like Dodo Caffe, plus lively bars in the evening. For larger self-catering shops, the Cannaregio area has several smaller grocery stores within easy walking distance.

The property offers a well-maintained garden and a terrace where guests can eat or relax. For organised activities, the host can arrange walking tours, cultural tours, and cooking classes for an additional charge. The quiet neighbourhood itself is ideal for leisurely strolls - the nearby Jewish Ghetto, canalside promenade, and local park are all within a short walk. The property's distance from the main tourist crowds makes the area feel like a 'real Venice' experience, with community spaces and a small coast accessible on foot.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout all apartments. Pets are permitted with possible additional charges. The host (Enrico) is noted for responsive communication, providing clear directions and restaurant recommendations, and can accommodate early check-in upon request. Luggage storage before check-in is available if arranged beforehand. Reception staff speak English, Spanish, and Italian. There is no lift, but ground-floor apartments are available - request at booking if needed. No parking is provided, making this property best for travellers arriving by train or water taxi. Cot hire is available. Paid walking tours and cooking classes are offered on site.
