BARCAROLA CLUB, Puerto del Carmen (Lanzarote)

The property sits directly on the lively main strip, with dozens of restaurants, bars, shops, and a Spar supermarket within a few minutes' walk. The beach and seafront promenade are literally across the road, and a dedicated cycle track runs along the coast. The airport transfer takes only 15-20 minutes by car or taxi. Public bus stops are close by for exploring further afield. Despite the central position, the complex is exceptionally peaceful at night - gates are locked, and the tropical gardens absorb much of the surrounding noise. For those with a car, free street parking is available on Avenida Italia, approximately 100 metres away.

Accommodation ranges from one-bedroom apartments to spacious two-bedroom units, all with a private entrance, living area, and a terrace or balcony - many overlooking the gardens or pool. All apartments feature air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, a fridge, kettle, toaster, and kitchen utensils. Refurbished apartments have modern white-marble floors, walk-in showers, comfortable king-size beds, and a more contemporary feel; some even include dressing gowns, a safe, and toiletries. Two-bedroom superior apartments are all on the upper floor and have two separate bedrooms. Some older-style apartments are more basic and may have less comfortable beds and dated furniture - upgrading to a premium unit is recommended for a better experience. Note that two-bedroom apartments have only one bathroom.

The White restaurant serves a substantial buffet breakfast each morning, featuring fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, cereals, a hot station with bacon, eggs, made-to-order omelettes, and a Nespresso coffee machine with pods. The breakfast selection is varied and replenished regularly, with many returning visitors praising its quality. The Cacho Café offers a poolside setting with cocktails, international food including vegetarian options, and a snack menu for lunch - all at reasonable prices. For dinner, Restaurant #1 specialises in Mediterranean cuisine and offers vegetarian and gluten-free meal options. Several restaurants are also within a 2-3 minute walk on the strip, including Italian, Indian, and seafood choices.

The outdoor swimming pool is heated year-round to approximately 25°C, and its saltwater system and hydrotherapy jets provide a comfortable swim. The pool area is surrounded by lush tropical gardens, with plenty of sun loungers and Balinese beds; a poolside bar serves drinks and lunch. A separate outdoor jacuzzi is available, and the Wellness Box houses a newly opened, air-conditioned gym with cardio and weights equipment, plus a treatment area for massage and yoga classes. Beauty services and a solarium are also on site. Bicycle rental is available for exploring the coast, and the beach, cycling track, and walking promenade are directly across the road. Note: there is no separate children's pool and no children's entertainment.

Free Wi-Fi is available across all areas and is strong enough for video calls and streaming. Daily housekeeping includes towel changes and bed-making; cleaning times vary but are generally efficient. Luggage storage is free, and a safety deposit box can be rented for an additional charge. The 24-hour front desk can arrange car hire, bicycle rental, tour bookings, and laundry services (for a fee). Babysitting is available on request and charges apply. The entire property is non-smoking except for private terraces. Key-card access and CCTV provide security; gates are locked at night for added quiet. There is no lift, but ground-floor apartments are available. An iron can be borrowed from reception (3 EUR/day, subject to availability).
