COLONY INN - NORTH HOLLYWOOD - HOTEL NEAR UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, Los Angeles

The hotel is a 9-minute drive from Universal Studios Hollywood and 12 minutes from the Hollywood Bowl. Los Angeles International Airport is 53 minutes away. The surrounding area is a mix of arts district energy and urban grit; there are homeless encampments nearby and the streets can feel less safe after dark. However, the hotel is gated and sits within short walking distance of multiple restaurants (Hot Wok, Skinny's Lounge, Idle Hour, Lenzini's Pizza, Chinese Deli, and others). Traffic noise from nearby roads and aircraft from Burbank Airport is audible, so light sleepers should consider earplugs or request a room facing away from the street.

The hotel offers a range of room types including double rooms, quadruple rooms, and family suites. Family rooms can accommodate up to three beds (twin, full, queen) and are noted for their generous size. Several double rooms include a spa bath/jacuzzi (must be reserved directly with the hotel). All rooms have air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV with cable, and a private bathroom with bath or shower. Carpeted floors are common; some rooms have laminate flooring. The property is older and furnishings are dated-furniture is often worn, and cleanliness can vary. Bed comfort is mixed: many find the mattresses firm, and bedding consists only of a sheet and thin bedspread (no blankets). Noise from adjacent rooms, traffic, and aircraft is frequent. There are no microwaves or coffee makers in rooms, and power outlets near the bed are scarce. Request hangers, iron, and extra towels from the front desk if needed.

The hotel does not serve breakfast or operate a restaurant. Coffee is available in the lobby. For meals, a variety of eateries are within 0.3 to 0.5 km: Hot Wok (Chinese), Skinny's Lounge (bar food), Lenzini's Pizza, Idle Hour (bar and kitchen), Chinese Deli, Dragon Street, Urban Skillet, and Hy Mart Sandwiches. These provide convenient alternatives for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The lack of on-site dining means planning ahead for early or late meals is advisable.

Free on-site public parking is available (no reservation needed), but spaces are limited; overflow parking uses street meters (free from 8-11 am). The hotel offers 24-hour front desk service, daily housekeeping upon request, and a tour desk for attraction tickets. An elevator serves all floors. WiFi is free in public areas only; in-room internet requires payment. Laundry is not on site, but a nearby laundromat is available. The property is pet-friendly: cats and other pets are allowed for a $35 per pet per night fee. A refundable $150 deposit is required at check-in. Accepted payment methods: Visa, Discover, UnionPay, and MasterCard. Cash deposits are accepted but a credit card matching the guest's ID is needed unless the reservation is prepaid through a booking platform.
