DAYS INN BY WYNDHAM DURHAM/NEAR DUKE UNIVERSITY, Durham

Situated near Duke University's campus, this hotel places guests within easy reach of university events, the Duke University Medical Center, and downtown Durham. Numerous chain and local dining options like Chick-fil-A, Bullock's Barbecue, and El Patron are within a 0.3-0.5 km walk. The building can be difficult to find visually as Days Inn signage has been removed, and the exterior appearance is not welcoming.

Each room comes with a flat-screen TV with cable/satellite channels, a microwave and refrigerator, an in-room safe, ironing facilities, tea and coffee-making facilities, a sitting area, and free toiletries. However, the maintenance and cleanliness of rooms consistently fall short of acceptable standards. Reported issues include peeling ceilings and walls, mold in carpets and bathrooms, burn marks and stains on bedding, unsecured or poorly fitting doors, dirty bathrooms with chipped wood and old tile, non-functioning mini-fridges, and strong cigarette smoke odor even in non-smoking rooms. The bedding may look clean, but general cleanliness and upkeep are extremely poor. The property's overall condition is poor, with peeling paint, unkempt grass, and a general appearance of disrepair.

Guests have access to a salt-water outdoor swimming pool and a separate kids' pool, both free of charge. A golf course is located within 3 km. The pool area includes a sun terrace and is part of a small outdoor garden space, offering a basic leisure option for families.

Free Wi-Fi is accessible throughout the property. The 24-hour front desk offers luggage storage, an ATM, and safety deposit boxes. Free daily housekeeping, a business centre, and fax/photocopying are included, while dry cleaning and laundry services are available for an additional charge. The property has a designated smoking area, soundproof rooms, family rooms, and facilities for disabled guests. A minimarket is on-site along with vending machines for drinks and snacks. The building has 24-hour front desk security, CCTV both inside and outside, key card access, smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers. Car hire can be arranged. The overall service quality is reported as very poor, with issues including unhelpful and rude staff and aggressive check-out enforcement.
