ELLWYN HOUSE, Edinburgh

The property sits on a main road about 5 km east of Edinburgh city centre, in a safe and practical neighbourhood. The bus stop for the no. 26 bus is immediately opposite the hotel, running every 10 minutes directly to Princes Street and Waverley Station for a single fare of £3 or a day ticket of £5. Portobello Beach is a 10-15-minute walk downhill, and the area has local shops including a Morrisons supermarket within 0.5 km. Edinburgh Castle is 5 km away, the National Museum of Scotland 4 km, and Edinburgh Airport 13 km. Free street parking is available in the unrestricted area directly in front of the hotel, making it a good base for drivers who prefer not to pay for central parking.

The accommodation offers a range of room types including single, double, twin, and spacious twin/double options. All rooms feature a private bathroom with shower, hairdryer, and free toiletries, as well as a tea and coffee maker, electric kettle, seating area (in many rooms), wardrobe, and carpeted floors. Some rooms have large windows that let in plenty of natural light and offer sea views, while others overlook the quieter inner courtyard or mountains, including Arthur's Seat. The property has no lift, and rooms are accessed via two flights of narrow stairs; staff can assist with luggage on request. The overall style is older and practical rather than modern, with furnishings that some may find basic or dated.

Internet access is free throughout the building. Parking is free on the street directly outside, with no time restrictions. Housekeeping includes daily bed-making and bin emptying; additional services such as laundry, dry cleaning, and ironing are available for a surcharge. The property has a 24-hour front desk, full-day security with CCTV in common areas and outdoors, and security alarms. Express check-in/out and private check-in/out are offered for an extra fee. Meeting and banquet facilities can be arranged on request. There is no lift, and only stairs provide access to upper floors. Pets are not permitted. The property is entirely non-smoking.
