ESTELADA HOSTEL BERG AM LAIM, Munich

The hostel sits in a residential suburb 38 km from Munich Airport. Direct tram line 21 (stop just outside) connects to Marienplatz in about 20 minutes; the same line reaches München Hauptbahnhof in roughly 30 minutes. München Ost station is 2 km away on foot, offering S-Bahn connections across the city and region. Nearby Aldi and Lidl are less than a block away, and several bakeries, a swimming pool (Michaelibad), and restaurants such as Blue Ingwer (0.5 km) are within walking distance. The area is quiet at night but lively with local life during the day. For drivers, the A8 motorway is a few minutes away, and paid on-site parking (€9/day, reservation needed) is available.

All rooms at this adults-only hostel share external bathrooms and showers and include a personal safe, lockers, and a wardrobe. Many rooms feature tiled floors, a seating area, and garden or courtyard views - though some ground-floor rooms face a pedestrian sidewalk, reducing privacy. Rooms also contain a refrigerator, and selected room types (studio, family, quadruple) provide executive lounge access. Bed configurations range from single (1 bed) to family (5 beds). Heating is available; there is no air conditioning. Noise varies - rooms near the main lobby can be audible, while others are generally quiet. Cleanliness is a common strength, with many rooms described as well-maintained, though occasional lapses are reported.

Breakfast is available for €7 per person, offering bread, pastries, spreads, coffee, and juice - a budget-friendly start to the day. For those who prefer to prepare their own meals, the shared kitchen is spacious and well equipped: oven, microwave, stoves, pots, pans, utensils, and a coffee machine. A fridge is also available in the kitchen for drinks and perishables. Several supermarkets (Aldi, Lidl) are within 200 m, and a range of Asian and Italian restaurants are within a 10-minute walk, including Blue Ingwer and Satyam Restaurant. Note that no hot dishes are served outside breakfast hours.

The hostel provides free WiFi in all areas, a shared lounge with TV, and a communal kitchen for guest use. Luggage storage is complimentary, and lockers with a safe deposit box are available in the rooms. Reception is staffed during daytime hours and speaks Arabic, German, Greek, English, and Spanish. Self-check-in is possible for late arrivals (code provided). On-site private parking costs €9 per day and must be reserved. Additional services include invoice provision, CCTV in common areas, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, and a security alarm. No pets allowed. The entire property is non-smoking. Baby safety gates are available for young children, though the hostel is adults-only.
