FAIRFIELD INN & SUITES BY MARRIOTT COLUMBUS, Columbus

The hotel sits off Highway 82, placing it within a short drive of Fort Benning (7-10 minutes), Columbus Airport (1 km, free shuttle), and the town centre. A variety of fast-food restaurants (Subway, Dunkin', Arby's) and a Walmart are within 0.5-1 km. Starkville is about 25 minutes away, making this a convenient base for Mississippi State University events. The Gallery on Railroad is 48 km distant. The location works well for military visitors, airport transit, and those needing quick access to shopping and dining along the corridor. Street noise from the highway can be audible in some rooms, but the area is generally calm.

Rooms feature air conditioning, a flat-screen TV with streaming services, tea/coffee maker, wardrobe, and tiled floors. Family rooms include a bathtub and shower; triple rooms offer a walk-in shower. Bedding is generally comfortable, and rooms are spacious for the category. However, some rooms have reported issues such as musty odors, peeling paint, mold in bathrooms, and noise from thin walls or upstairs neighbours. The property is older and would benefit from renovation. For a quieter stay, request a room away from the road and on an upper floor. No rooms have balconies. Mobility-accessible rooms with roll-in showers and grab rails are available.

The indoor swimming pool features a shallow end and is heated to a comfortable 26 °C. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided poolside. However, the pool has been closed for maintenance at times, so confirm availability if swimming is a key part of your stay. The fitness centre is open 24 hours and includes cardio machines and free weights. Additional leisure activities such as billiards, mini golf, and evening entertainment are offered for an extra charge. No spa or hot tub is available.

The hotel provides free Wi-Fi throughout, a free 24-hour airport shuttle (request after booking), and free on-site parking with required reservation. The 24-hour front desk can assist with luggage storage, express check-in/out, and currency exchange. A business centre and meeting facilities are available. Laundry and dry cleaning services are offered for a fee. The property is fully accessible: elevators, wheelchair-accessible rooms with roll-in showers, grab rails, and visual/tactile aids are present. Security includes key card access, CCTV, and safety deposit boxes. No pets are allowed; service animals only. Daily housekeeping is not automatic - request it at the front desk if needed.
