SANGALLO PARK HOTEL, Siena

The hotel sits on a hilltop with panoramic views over Siena and the Tuscan countryside, yet is only 2 km from Siena Train Station. The historic centre is about 3 km away, reachable by car in 10 minutes or by a bus that stops virtually outside the hotel (bus runs every 30 minutes on weekdays, less frequently at weekends). Taxis to the centre cost around €13. The location is ideal for exploring Tuscany by car, with easy access to Florence (70 km by train or car) and other hill towns. Free city maps are provided at reception. The immediate area is quiet and surrounded by nature, but a highly-rated pizzeria is within a few hundred metres, and several other restaurants are a short drive away.

Rooms are clean, spacious, and well-insulated, with parquet floors, air conditioning, minibar, and flat-screen satellite TV. Standard and Comfort rooms have walk-in showers, while Superior rooms offer a bathtub. All rooms include a private bathroom with hairdryer and free toiletries. Some rooms overlook the garden or parking area, and hill-view rooms provide panoramic scenery. Twin beds are available on advance request. Soundproofing is excellent, ensuring a quiet stay. Daily housekeeping changes towels and bed linen. No rooms have balconies. The elevator is accessible for wheelchair users.

A continental buffet breakfast is included in the room rate and served each morning on a sunny terrace overlooking the garden and olive trees. The spread includes bread, pastries, fresh scrambled eggs, barista-made coffee, and gluten-free options safe for coeliac diets. The bar is open 24 hours, offering alcoholic and soft drinks, ice cream, and sandwiches at very reasonable prices (e.g., Spritz €5). Breakfast can also be served in the room for an additional charge. There is no on-site restaurant, but the staff provide excellent local restaurant recommendations and can make reservations.

The outdoor infinity pool is a highlight, offering panoramic views over the Tuscan landscape. It operates from June to October, daily from 09:00 until dusk. The pool area features a fence for safety, sun loungers, a sun terrace, and an outdoor shower with hot water. Towels are provided free of charge. The pool is large enough for laps and is well-maintained, making it a refreshing retreat after touring. The surrounding garden has olive trees and outdoor furniture, ideal for relaxing with a drink from the bar.
