FAIRFIELD INN & SUITES HOUSTON INTERCONTINENTAL AIRPORT, Houston

The primary advantage is its proximity to IAH - the free shuttle runs 24/7 and typically takes 10-15 minutes. Minute Maid Park and Discovery Green Park are about 25 km away. The immediate area is remote: there are very few restaurants within walking distance; the closest food options are 4-5 km away and require a car or rideshare. Bus stops near the hotel can take you to downtown Houston, but a car is strongly recommended for anything beyond the airport. The property is easy to access by car, with on-site paid parking.

Standard rooms come with one king or two queen beds. Suites are notably large and include two TVs, a pull-out sofa, a separate seating area, and a desk - ideal for families or longer stays. Amenities include USB charging ports and safety deposit boxes. The property is older and some rooms show signs of wear: musty odors, sticky carpets, thin walls, and occasional maintenance issues (stiff doors, broken fixtures, no exhaust fans in bathrooms). Mattress firmness varies - some find them comfortable while others describe them as overly soft or sagging. For uninterrupted sleep, request a room away from the airport-facing side and consider bringing a white noise machine. Daily housekeeping is included; towels and bedding are clean but thin.

The breakfast spread includes eggs, sausage or bacon, make-your-own waffles, breads, yogurt, fruit, juices, and coffee. It is self-service on disposable plates and cutlery. While most travellers find it adequate for a quick meal before a flight, the selection is basic and repeats daily - there are no hot items beyond eggs and meat. The bar is open in the evening and is a convenient spot for a drink, but does not serve dinner. The on-site minimarket sells packaged snacks and drinks. For a full dinner, you will need to drive 5-10 minutes; there are a few chain restaurants within 5 km.

The free airport shuttle runs on demand: call the hotel from baggage claim, and the van typically arrives within 20-35 minutes. For return trips, sign up at the front desk the night before. The 24-hour front desk offers express check-in/out and luggage storage. A business centre with two computers, a printer, and free high-speed internet is available. On-site services include a minimarket, vending machines for drinks and snacks, and a safety deposit box at reception. Cleaning services include daily housekeeping (free), and dry cleaning/laundry (surcharge). The property has a lift, wheelchair-accessible rooms, and accessible parking. General Wi-Fi is free in all areas. Paid parking costs US$5.12 per day with no reservation required.
