FIDIAS HOUSE, Milan

Piazza Fidia 3 is the only civic address on the square, which makes the building straightforward to find. The apartment is 3 km from Arena Civica and 3 km from Sforzesco Castle, with La Scala and The Last Supper within easy reach. Walking to the historic centre takes around 40 minutes, and the nearest metro stop is about 200 metres away; other stations are a 10-minute walk. Milan Central and Porta Garibaldi stations are close by, making rail and airport connections practical; Linate Airport is 9 km away. City buses reach the central station in a few stops. The surrounding Isola and Chinatown area is lively in the evening, with restaurants, cafés, bakeries and a small supermarket directly below the building.

Rooms have air conditioning, heating, a flat-screen TV, wardrobe, work desk and tea/coffee facilities. The shared bathroom provides a shower, bidet, hairdryer and free toiletries. The double room is the most practical for longer stays: it is spacious, bright and adds a kitchenette, refrigerator, sofa bed and a balcony with city views. Single and twin/double rooms are more basic, and the single in particular feels dated. The availability of two separate beds depends on the room type. Bed comfort varies, with double beds formed from two single mattresses of different firmness and some frames that squeak. Walls are thin, so conversations in adjacent rooms carry, and traffic from the piazza is audible even with windows closed. The shared bathroom has no towel racks; in summer, mosquitoes can enter the rooms.

The double room's kitchenette includes a refrigerator for storing and preparing food, and rooms come with tea and coffee making equipment. A small supermarket is directly below the building, with a larger grocery selection about 10 minutes' walk away, which makes self-catering practical. For eating out, eight venues are within 0.5 km: Caffe Fidia, TA-Tta la Polpetteria, Frida, Nisida, L'isola della Birra, L'ile douce, Choice Cafe and Pizza Gourmet Giuseppe Vesi. The surrounding Isola district also adds bakeries and cafés within walking distance.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the building, and the lift makes the sixth-floor rooms easier to reach. Cots and ironing facilities are available. Each room and bedroom door has its own lock, which supports privacy in the shared-apartment layout. There is no on-site parking, so the nearby metro and railway stations are the practical access routes. An automatic washing machine is a 2-minute walk away for laundry.
