HILLSIDE HOTEL, New York

The hotel sits on Hillside Avenue in Queens, with Jamaica station a few minutes' walk away, offering direct access to the AirTrain to JFK (10 min) and express subway lines into central Manhattan (30-40 min). Aqueduct Racetrack is 6 km, Arthur Ashe Stadium 6 km, and Citi Field 8 km. Belmont Park Race Track is 10 km away, and Barclays Center is 15 km. Fast-food outlets (KFC, McDonald's, Wendy's, Domino's Pizza) are within a 3-minute walk, and a few local restaurants such as Peking Garden and Hado Sushi are also nearby. The immediate neighborhood is a typical Queens suburb but can feel less safe late at night; walking to the AirTrain or subway station is straightforward but passes through mixed urban blocks.

The hotel offers double rooms (some with two double beds) that are functional for short stays but tight for groups of three or four. Bedding quality varies significantly; while many find the beds comfortable and the pillows soft, others report stained sheets, burnt holes, and dirty linens - requesting freshly inspected linen at check-in is advisable. Rooms have a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron/ironing board, and cable TV with DirecTV. Air conditioning is effective. Bathrooms are of mixed condition: some are clean and spacious, others have broken fixtures, rusted holders, or lukewarm water. Noise from the hallway, elevator chime, traffic, and street-level rooms can be intrusive - rooms on higher floors away from the street are quieter.
