HOSTEL CASTELLO MAGGIORE, Rome

The hostel sits right at Porta Maggiore, a historic landmark, with a tram and bus stop directly outside. Vittorio Emanuele Metro Station is under 1 km on foot, and Rome Termini Train Station is about 2 km away - a 15- to 20-minute walk. The Colosseum is roughly 3 km (25-30 minutes on foot or a short tram ride). Rome Ciampino Airport is 13 km away; for Fiumicino Airport, take a Terravision or Shuttle Bus from Termini (about 90 minutes total). The immediate area has several restaurants, a supermarket, and a minimarket within a few minutes' walk. The neighbourhood around Porta Maggiore is a busy road and rail intersection, which can feel less secure late at night.

The hostel does not have its own restaurant or bar. A shared kitchen is provided, equipped with a stove, fridge, and basic cookware (no microwave). Instant coffee is available for free. For meals out, more than a dozen restaurants, pizzerias, and sandwich bars are within 0.3-0.5 km: Come Se Bar (0.5 km), Osteria La Sol Fa (0.5 km), La Pecora Pazza Pizza al Taglio (0.5 km), and others. A supermarket is a 3-minute walk away. If you prefer a full breakfast or a wider variety of sit-down dining, plan to eat at one of the nearby eateries rather than relying solely on the hostel kitchen.
