HOSTEL SOROLLA PLAYA, Malaga

The hostel sits in a quiet residential area right on La Caleta Beach, with the Malagueta Beach just a short stroll further along the coast. The bus stop for line 3 (direct to the city centre in 15 minutes) is a 2-minute walk from the door, and the train from the airport connects via Malaga Centro Alameda station with the same bus line. The city centre, including Malaga Park, Picasso Museum, and Malaga Cathedral, is a 20- to 30-minute walk along the beachfront promenade. Shops, supermarkets (Carrefour), and several chiringuitos (beach bars) are within a 5-minute walk, while the airport is 12 km away. Parking is limited to paid street parking in the blue zone.

Rooms are available in 6-, 8-, and 12-bed dormitories, each with air conditioning, heating, and soundproofed walls. Bunk beds are sturdy and come with privacy curtains that block out light, individual reading lights, power sockets, and a small storage pocket. Lockers (bring your own padlock) are located under the lower bunks. Some dorms have a private en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink, but most share well-maintained separate bathroom facilities. Upper bunks can be tricky to access, and road-facing rooms may experience some street noise, though the area is generally quiet. Room design can feel compact, with limited floor space and no windows in some interior dorms, making air circulation less ideal. Daily housekeeping maintains cleanliness, and beds are comfortable.

The hostel provides a large, well-equipped shared kitchen with cookware, pans, and ample counter space. Guests can store and prepare their own food; a supermarket (Carrefour) is a 2-minute walk away for groceries. There is no on-site restaurant, bar, or vending machines, and breakfast is not served. However, a number of popular beachfront chiringuitos (Chiringuito Picasso, Chiringuito Mediterraneo, Chiringuito Tropicana) are within a 5-minute walk, offering fresh seafood and drinks. The hostel does provide free coffee in the mornings.

The hostel's main recreation asset is its beachfront location - La Caleta and Malagueta beaches are steps away, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and coastal walks. Inside, the property offers a public bath (free of charge) and a selection of board games and puzzles for guest use. There is no pool, spa, gym, or sauna. The shared lounge area includes a TV and comfortable seating. For active guests, an outdoor workout park is a short walk from the hostel.
