HOTEL GAMMA, Milan

Set in Milan's Città Studi university district, the hotel sits right beside Lambrate Metro (M2), train and tram stops, making it exceptionally well connected for exploring the city. Milano Centrale is 4 metro stops away, Corso Buenos Aires shopping street is 2 stops, and Duomo square is approximately 20 minutes by metro. Linate Airport is 14 km away - a €25-30 taxi ride - while Malpensa Airport is best reached by shuttle bus to Centrale station then the metro. The surrounding streets provide many pizzerias, cafés and a mini-market within a short walk. Bar Stazione M.M. Lambrate (0.5 km) and Solerico Cafe (0.5 km) are nearby for drinks or a quick bite.

Each room features satellite TV, soundproofing, heating, a minibar, ironing facilities, free toiletries and either carpeted or parquet flooring. The beds and pillows have been a strong point for comfort, with daily housekeeping and towel changes. However, rooms vary notably in size: some are quite spacious while others - particularly those on lower floors or in specific configurations - feel very small. The showers in many bathrooms are tight (approx. 50x50 cm), and some bathrooms appear dated. Road and neighbour noise can be an issue in certain rooms, as the window insulation is not always effective and internal soundproofing between rooms is limited. Two rooms have a small, narrow balcony but cannot accommodate sitting; request a back-facing or higher-floor room for better quiet.

Breakfast at Hotel Gamma is a buffet with Italian-style options including pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, warm dishes and good coffee. It is generally well regarded for its variety and quality, though some selection items are repeated daily. A bar, snack bar and vending machines for drinks and snacks operate on site. Special diet menus (gluten-free, vegetarian) are available on request, and wine/champagne is offered for an extra charge. The hotel does not have a restaurant for lunch or dinner, but many pizzerias and cafés are within a 3-minute walk, including Pizza Mundial (0.5 km) and Birrificio Lambrate (0.5 km). The bar is open around the clock for basic refreshments.
