HOTEL GARNI KLEIST AM KURFUERSTENDAMM, Berlin

The hotel sits in a traditional Berlin building on a little-trafficked side street, providing a quiet base while keeping the Kurfürstendamm shopping strip just 5 minutes on foot. Savignyplatz, with its S-Bahn station connecting directly to the Berlin International Congress Center, is a 10-minute walk. Olivaer Platz (5 minutes away) offers direct bus routes to Zoologischer Garten and Tegel Airport. TU Berlin is just 50 metres away, and a wide selection of restaurants, cafés, and shops are within a 5-minute radius, including a Lidl supermarket. The area is well-connected for both business and sightseeing yet remains calm after hours.

Rooms are generously sized, often more spacious than the photos suggest, and feature old-building charm with tall ceilings and large windows. The standard studio includes a seating area with a flat-screen TV, a minibar, and a tea/coffee maker. The kitchenette is well-equipped with a refrigerator, kettle, microwave, oven, cookware and a dining table - practical for longer stays. The private bathroom is compact but includes a shower (sometimes over a bathtub), hairdryer, and free toiletries. Most rooms face the inner courtyard, resulting in very little street noise, though some rooms on the ground floor or with single windows can feel darker. The beds are comfortable and spacious, with daily cleaning service. Some rooms have double-double or triple configurations (up to three beds), making them suitable for family groups. Note that hallways are creaky due to the age of the building, and internal sound insulation between rooms is limited - party or late-return noise can travel. The dated furniture and decor are functional rather than modern, but the size, equipment, and value are strong.

Internet is available in all rooms free of charge, with reported speeds sufficient for streaming and remote work. The property has a lift, so upper-floor access is easy. Luggage storage is available, allowing you to explore after check-out. Express check-in/out speeds arrival and departure. Daily room cleaning is provided, though entry for cleaning when the room is occupied has been noted - using the DND sign is not available. The reception is not manned 24/7; key collection and check-in must occur between 12:00 and 21:00, with a phone line for off-hour help. There is no on-site restaurant or bar, and no meeting rooms. Safety features include CCTV in common areas, smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and a security alarm.
