Hotel Details

Location

Hotel Humaina is set in the Mountains of Málaga Nature Reserve, a 40-minute drive from Málaga city centre and 50 minutes from Málaga Airport.

The hotel is situated in a very remote mountain location, approximately 23 km from Málaga city centre and requiring a 40-minute drive on narrow, winding roads. The last 4 km are along a single-track forest road with passing places, and driving at night requires extra caution due to darkness and the presence of wild boar. There is no public transport to the property, no taxi rank nearby, and no mobile phone signal once you leave the main road. A car is essential for reaching the hotel, visiting Málaga, or accessing shops (the nearest shop is a 25-minute drive away). The property's rural setting offers immediate access to hiking, cycling, and horse-riding trails from the doorstep. Free on-site parking is available and reservation is not needed. A taxi from the airport costs approximately €50.

Dining

The on-site Restaurante Humaina serves regional and traditional Spanish cuisine, with meal options including breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, high tea, and cocktail hour.

Restaurante Humaina is open year-round and offers a menu with regional and traditional dishes. Vegetarian, vegan, and halal meals are available on request. The evening menu includes tapas, a la carte options, and a set menu priced at €25 per person. Breakfast is a continental buffet with bread, pastries, cereals, fruit, yoghurt, cold meats, cheese, and hot drinks, available for an additional €9. Breakfast portions can be limited after 10:30, and the selection is basic. Dinner quality has been described as mixed, with some dishes noted as well-prepared while others (e.g., frozen desserts) can be disappointing. The hotel also has a bar and lounge area with a fireplace, and packed lunches can be arranged. There are no shops or vending machines nearby for snacks, and the nearest alternative restaurant is a significant drive away.

Leisure

The hotel features a seasonal outdoor swimming pool, an open-air bath, and a spa lounge/relaxation area for guests to unwind.

The outdoor pool is seasonal and provides sun loungers and umbrellas. Some periods have seen the pool closed for maintenance or reported as dirty, so confirming its operational status before booking is wise. An open-air bath and a spa lounge/relaxation area are also available. For leisure activities, the hotel offers bicycle rental (for an additional charge), free bike tours, free walking tours, and hiking and cycling routes departing directly from the property. Horse riding is also possible in the area. The hotel grounds include a garden, sun terrace, picnic area, BBQ facilities, a games room, and a children's playground. The area is ideal for nature lovers, with the surrounding nature reserve offering excellent walking and mountain biking trails.
